Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Product Engineer III is to lead design and development activities (concept generation, requirements generation, prototyping, 3D modeling, 2D prints creation, concept evaluation) on components, subassembly level projects, or medical device development programs. The Product Engineer III will be based out of the Fridley, MN location with the requirement to travel to White Bear Lake as needed.
WhatYou’ll Do Every Day
- Create and/or support technical execution plan and deliverables with the project team.
- Execute design and development project-related activities throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support customer interaction on technical deliverables comfortably and confidently.
- Lead activities for concept generation and use good technical problem-solving skills based on customer interests, budgets, and market research.
- Conduct engineering analysis on designs, concepts and associated research.
- Create/facilitate documentation for requirements, design output, design verification, testing using Heraeus and/or customer’s QMS.
- Coordinate and execute effective cross‑functional collaboration to move forward in the product development cycle.
- Communicate complex information concisely and clearly when working with customers, team members, and others.
- Mentor less experienced engineers through project execution.
- Identify solutions for project, product, and process challenges and implement solutions in coordination with cross‑functional teams.
- Facilitate and make technical decisions on projects (e.g., vendor selection, decisions critical to quality on design, concept selection, etc.).
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
- Bachelor degree in engineering or related field strongly preferred; other relevant postsecondary education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required; 1 year of relevant experience may be substituted for a graduate degree and 3 years for a doctorate.
- Established knowledge of multiple functional engineering areas (e.g., product development, test, modeling, process, etc.).
- Design and development experience with catheters, guide wires, and/or delivery systems preferred.
- Demonstrates consistent understanding of the methodology for process/design selection.
- Able to communicate complex technical concepts.
- Shows creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles to find effective solutions to problems.
- Able to make data driven decisions utilizing statistical tools such as DOE, tolerance stack‑up analysis, or Minitab.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and actively work to coach others in this area.
- Willing and able to informally or formally coach and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Able to communicate complex topics to customers.
- Demonstrated ability to establish cross‑functional relationships to help drive results.
- Demonstrates desire for continuous improvement and understands need for change.
- Must be willing and able to travel between Fridley, MN and White Bear Lake, MN sites, as needed.
Medevio is committed to providing competitive total compensation and benefits packages. The expected hiring range for this position is between $100,000 and $117,000 based upon a full‑time schedule. This is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. Base salaries are determined by taking a variety of factors into account, including, but not limited to, candidate qualifications, geographic locations, market conditions and internal equity.
This position is bonus eligible, with a target bonus of 10%. Our total compensation package includes eligibility for comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, education reimbursement, paid parental leave, and paid time off.
