Senior Product Development Engineer — Permanent Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Senior Product Development Engineer will be to lead design and development activities (concept generation, requirements generation, prototyping, 3D modeling, 2D prints creation, concept evaluation) on complex medical device development programs.
This position will be based out of the Fridley, MN location, with travel to the White Bear Lake, MN site to support project needs.
What You’ll Do Every Day- Create technical execution plan and deliverables with the project team.
- Lead and execute design and development project‑related activities throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead customer interaction on technical deliverables comfortably and confidently.
- Lead activities for concept generation with strong technical problem‑solving skills based on customer interests, budgets, and market research.
- Mentor engineers on the team to conduct engineering analysis on designs, concepts, and the associated research.
- Create and/or lead and monitor documentation practices for requirements, design output, design verification, and testing using Heraeus and/or customer’s QMS.
- Coordinate and execute effective cross‑functional collaboration to move forward in the product development cycle.
- Communicate complex information concisely and clearly to all levels of collaborators, including customers, team members, and others.
- Mentor less experienced engineers throughout project execution.
- Identify solutions for complex project, product, and process challenges and implement solutions in coordination with cross‑functional teams.
- Facilitate and make technical decisions on projects (e.g., vendor selection, critical to quality on the design, concept selection, etc.).
- Duties may be assigned as required.
- Bachelor degree in engineering or related technical field;
Master’s degree in engineering or related technical field preferred. - Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience; 1 year of relevant experience may be substituted for a graduate degree or 3 years for a doctorate.
- Well established knowledge of multiple engineering functional areas (i.e., product development, testing, modeling, process, etc.).
- Catheter design and development experience preferred.
- Independently applies knowledge of the methodology for process/design selection.
- Able to communicate complex technical concepts to broad audiences.
- Consistently demonstrates creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles to solve complex problems.
- Able to make data driven decisions utilizing statistical tools such as DOE, tolerance stack‑up analysis, or Minitab.
- Strong independent problem‑solving skills and actively working to coach others in this area.
- Proficient with new technology development.
- Capable of creating a plan to solve complex technical problems and lead others to resolutions.
- Actively, informally or formally coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.
- Able to communicate complex topics to customers.
- Has established cross‑functional relationships and is able to influence to drive results.
- Clearly communicates need for continuous improvement and champions change within the organization.
- Must be willing and able to travel between White Bear Lake, MN and Fridley, MN sites, as needed.
Medevio is committed to providing competitive total compensation and benefits packages. The expected hiring range for this position is between $110,000 and $130,000 based upon a full‑time schedule. This is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. Base salaries are determined by taking a variety of factors in account, including, but not limited to, candidate qualifications, geographic locations, market conditions and internal equity.
This position is bonus eligible, with a target bonus of 10%. Our total compensation package includes eligibility for comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, education reimbursement, paid parental leave, and paid time off.
