Job Summary
Reason position exists:
To coordinate health, safety, and training programs that support a safe work environment and ensure development of a skilled workforce. Provide audit services for safety and training programs to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure safety practices comply with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations
- Research, develop, and implement programs to promote safe work practices
- Coordinate, schedule, conduct, and track annual AWAIR / Right to Know and other required training
- Support data collection and recordkeeping/reporting for environmental services in plant
- Ensure proper labeling of materials and PPE postings
- Conduct new hire safety orientation
- Perform safety audits and handle regulatory communications as needed
- Lead workers' compensation first report of injury/accident investigations
- Maintain accurate and timely OSHA, EPA, and regulatory recordkeeping
- Chair employee-driven safety committee
- Track and input operational safety/environmental data (water usage, hazardous waste manifests, etc.)
- Act as a safety advocate across the organization
- Develop and execute internal safety audit schedules; submit corrective actions to management
- Recommend improvements to quality and safety systems
- Work with management to implement safety improvements
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with ISO, NADCAP, and other regulatory standards
- Participate in cross-training opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute ideas for process and safety improvements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies or related field
- Strong communication skills across all levels of management and employees
- 3+ years manufacturing experience with strong understanding of operations, quality, and safety
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to plan, schedule, and execute tasks effectively
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NADCAP, and related regulatory requirements
- Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, 10-key)
- Ability to travel up to 10% and oversee multiple locations (Indiana, Florida, and Mexico)
- Passport required for international travel
- Prior experience in safety/training roles with strong attention to detail and project management
