Toolmaker II – Engineering Development ServicesThis technical position requires base knowledge in programming and experience operating machining equipment. The role involves reading and interpreting drawings, and using knowledge, ingenuity, and innovation to manufacture required machined components.
Responsibilities- Program and run CNC vertical machining centers, manual grinders, lathes and secondary operation equipment.
- Prepare machine tool fixtures by analyzing drawings, sketches, models and engineering or shop specifications.
- Use machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instruments to compute dimensions and determine tolerances.
- Perform precision work to exacting tolerances and revise designs or solve problems as needed.
- Monitor and verify quality and safety according to Medtronic standards.
- 3+ years of experience in the manufacture of gages, tools, fixtures or related machining.
- Vertical CNC machining center experience including 3‑axis.
- Manual machine experience including mills, lathes and grinders.
- Tool and Die apprenticeship certification or equivalent formal training.
- Understands cutting tool geometry and applications.
- Reads and comprehends advanced drawings with GD&T.
- Uses surface plate, sine plates and height gauge to set up and verify work.
- Ability to conceptualize and sketch tools, fixtures and gages.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
- Eagerness to learn and expand responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements
- 2‑year technical degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Base knowledge in programming using CAD/CAM software.
Job Requirements
Typical requirements include independent mobility, computer interaction and communication with peers.
Working ConditionsOnsite minimum 4 days per week with less than 10% travel.

Benefits & CompensationSalary range (U.S., excluding Puerto Rico): $55,200.00 – $82,800.00. Eligible for Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
