Engineering & Facilities Maintenance Technician 1 (MT1)

Compensation:
Pay range per hour is $32.75 - $39.21, plus a shift differential of $2.00 - $3.50 per hour based on eligibility.

• A1 – Saturday, Sunday, Monday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
• A2 – Saturday, Sunday, Monday 6:00 pm to 6:00 am
• B3 – Tuesday through Friday 9:00 pm to 7:00 am

An Engineering & Facilities Maintenance Mechanic 1 works in a Global Supply Chain center, maintaining and repairing automated material handling and facility equipment. The role supports high equipment availability rates, performs preventative and predictive maintenance, and quickly restores equipment to service. The position collaborates with other mechanics and senior engineers to solve problems and conduct root‑cause analysis, and is an entry‑level role with promotion potential to Maintenance Mechanic 2.

• Maintain and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical aspects of material‑handling equipment on site, including conveyor systems, sortation units, scales, and printer applicators.
• Demonstrate proficiency with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, AC/DC electrical motors and drives.
• Adjust, reset, repair or replace belts, chains, cables and other wear components such as guides, bearings, wheels, rollers and pulleys.
• Maintain and troubleshoot motors, photo‑eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, encoders and related accessories.
• Clean, lubricate and calibrate equipment.
• Use job plans, procedures and manuals to perform work.
• Perform preventative maintenance on facility equipment such as powered industrial trucks, HVAC units, air compressors, dryers and balers.
• Perform basic electrical maintenance and simple repair or replacement of electrical circuits and electronic equipment using tools such as multimeters and infrared thermometers.
• Read and interpret basic electrical and electronic schematics.
• Use handheld devices and the asset‑management mobile app to create and close work orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy and parts used).
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Follow safety procedures, use personal protective equipment, and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment hazards.

• Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
• Lift and move totes or cartons up to 49 pounds each.
• Walk frequently within and around the site.
• Climb ladders and gangways safely and work off platforms and equipment at significant heights.
• Full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, eye‑hand coordination and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation).
• Operate in small spaces, dust, fumes, odors, hot/cold temperatures, noise, vibration and on concrete or uneven surfaces.
• Stand or walk for up to 10–12 hours.

• Basic computer competency and ability to use mobile apps on handheld devices.
• Familiarity with simple wiring diagrams, symbols and electrical measurement.
• Experience with work‑order management, preventive/predictive maintenance procedures, and commonly used industrial tools.
• Basic carpentry, plumbing, blueprint and schematic reading, AC/DC electrical and electronic principles, metal fabrication, welding and industrial controls.
• High‑school diploma or equivalent.
• Desired
  • Degree from a vocational school or college focusing on mechanical or electrical fields.
  • 2 + years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in a mechanical or electrical field.
  • Experience with automated conveyor systems, controls, material‑handling equipment safety standards, PLC programs and HMIs, basic input/output troubleshooting, and robotic operation/maintenance.
