We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to join our growing public accounting firm. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who enjoys a mix of technical accounting, client management, and team leadership. The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee client engagements, ensure high-quality deliverables, mentor staff, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients across a variety of industries.

Key Responsibilities Client Service & Engagement Management
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, serving as the primary point of contact
  • Oversee and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Lead accounting engagements including bookkeeping, compilations, reviews, and special projects
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and practical solutions to clients
  • Identify opportunities to expand client services and support business development efforts
Technical Accounting & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes for clients
  • Assist with audit and tax preparation support as needed
  • Research and apply new accounting standards and firm policies
Leadership & Team Development
  • Supervise, mentor, and train staff and senior accountants
  • Review staff work papers and deliver constructive feedback
  • Assist with workload planning, scheduling, and engagement budgeting
  • Promote best practices, efficiency, and consistency across engagements
Firm Operations
  • Contribute to process improvements and firm-wide initiatives
  • Support internal quality control and documentation standards
  • Collaborate closely with partners to meet firm goals
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA license (active and in good standing)
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including public accounting
  • Prior experience managing clients and supervising staff
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
  • Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses
  • Exposure to multiple industries (e.g., professional services, real estate, nonprofits)
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Quick Books, Xero, or similar platforms
  • Prior experience in a small or mid-sized public accounting firm
