Position: Accounting Specialist - Payroll/Benefits

Bandera Utility Contractors, LLC is an underground utility construction company specializing in water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems, based in Frisco, TX. We are currently seeking a motivated and flexible Accounting Specialist to join our team. This position is a great opportunity for someone with a basic accounting background who is eager to develop their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will work closely with the Controller and play an essential role in our organization’s financial operations. This role offers hands‑on responsibilities and is perfect for someone who wants to take ownership of their work while contributing to a small, professional team.

Accounting Specialist Responsibilities
  • Payroll
    • Manage weekly payroll processes, reviewing timesheets entered by HR and Office Administration for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
    • Ensure proper labor allocation to jobs and correct reporting.
    • Train HR and administrative staff on procedures.
    • Develop and refine processes to improve efficiency, accuracy and internal controls.
  • Benefits Reconciliation
    • Analyze benefits statements and verify employee deductions and employer contributions align with plan agreements and internal records. Identify and resolve discrepancies and share with HR.
  • General Administrative Support
    • Maintain organized records of accounts, ensuring proper filing and documentation for the company and audit purposes.
    • Perform other duties as necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Communication
    :
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accounting Software Proficiency
    :
    Experience with accounting software such as Quick Books, Sage, or similar, along with strong MS Excel skills.
  • Self‑Starter
    :
    Ability to work independently and in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proactive and Professional
    :
    Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers and vendors.
  • Organizational Skills
    :
    Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
Education and Experience
  • Education
    : A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred.
  • Experience
    :
    At least two years of related experience in accounting or a similar role.
