Performance Beauty Group is seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and process-driven Senior Cost Accountant to join its Finance team. This role will be responsible for inventory accounting, manufacturing cost analysis, landed cost management, inventory reserves, tariffs, and cost-related reporting across multiple business units. The ideal candidate will have hands-on manufacturing accounting experience and a strong understanding of inventory costing, production processes, and supply chain operations.

In addition to traditional cost accounting responsibilities, this individual will play a key role in developing scalable processes, documenting workflows, identifying automation opportunities, and leveraging AI and technology solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain landed cost calculations, including inventory revaluations.
  • Analyze and maintain inventory reserve calculations and supporting documentation.
  • Manage tariff-related cost accounting and ensure proper inventory capitalization.
  • Perform inventory reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Review monthly inventory adjustments and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Monitor inventory reconciliations performed by domestic and international subsidiaries.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts, cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and inventory reporting.
  • Review assembly builds and manufacturing transactions to ensure all overhead costs are captured.
  • Analyze monthly manufacturing costs and identify variances versus prior periods.
  • Review freight allocations and ensure transportation costs are appropriately assigned to inventory.
  • Review intercompany inventory transactions to ensure intercompany COGS aligns with intercompany revenue.
  • Build and maintain KPIs and reporting packages for Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs).
  • Develop, document, and maintain process flows, SOPs, and internal controls.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, and automation opportunities.
  • Assist with year-end audit support and inventory-related requests.
  • Lead and participate in special projects and other initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years of manufacturing and cost accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting, manufacturing accounting, standard costing, landed costs, inventory reserves, overhead absorption, and inventory controls.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations and production costing.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, data analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Experience documenting business processes, developing process flows, and implementing process improvements.
  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation (active or inactive) preferred.
  • Experience with Net Suite or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience in beauty, consumer products, manufacturing, or CPG industries.
  • Experience supporting external audits and inventory controls.
  • Knowledge of landed costs, freight allocations, tariffs, inventory reserves, and intercompany inventory transactions.
  • Experience utilizing automation platforms, and business process improvement methodologies to improve efficiency and reporting.
  • Experience working in a private equity-backed organization is a plus.
