Job Description & How to Apply Below

Tax Manager — Frisco, TX $125,000 to $160,000 plus bonus after busy season "You might make Partner someday" isn't a career plan

Most Tax Managers have already checked the technical boxes. You can review complicated returns, run deadlines, own client relationships, and keep junior staff on track. That's not really the question anymore.

The real question is: what's next, and does anyone actually have an answer for you?

This independent, mid market CPA firm has three offices across Texas and is adding a Tax Manager who wants an actual path to Partner, not just a comment during a performance review that it "could happen eventually."

Instead of waiting around hoping leadership notices you, you'll get real visibility into how the firm operates, where the gaps are, and what it would take for your role to grow into something bigger.

This isn't just a Manager title with extra hours

You'll still be deep in the technical work, but your role won't stop 'll be the point person on key client relationships, sit in on planning and advisory conversations with senior leadership, and start to understand what running parts of a practice actually looks like.

You'll also help shape the next generation of staff, which tends to matter a lot once Partner conversations get serious.

People will notice how you think, not just what you sign off on.

What the role actually looks like
  • Reviewing complex individual and business tax work, and owning those client relationships year round
  • Working directly with senior leadership on planning and advisory projects
  • Getting pulled into bigger picture conversations about client service and firm growth
  • Coaching and developing junior staff, both technically and professionally
  • Picking up the leadership and business exposure that starts to matter a lot past the Manager level
Who this fits

At least five years in public accounting tax, with a solid technical base across individual and business returns.

CPA required.

You should already be comfortable running client relationships on your own and helping junior people level up. This will probably resonate most if you feel like you've outgrown the room you're currently in.

Maybe you want more say in how things get done. Maybe you're curious what actually goes on behind the partner door. Or maybe someone told you Partnership was "possible" a while back and never followed up with what that actually means.

Either way, this is less about the next title and more about finally getting a straight answer on what comes after Manager.

Compensation

$125,000 to $160,000 depending on experience, plus bonus after tax season.
