We are seeking an experienced Professional to lead private, commercial, and state-funded heavy civil construction projects. This role focuses on underground utilities, including water, sewer, storm drainage, and related infrastructure. The manager oversees all phases of project delivery, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This leadership role involves managing teams, subcontractors, and resources;
maintaining strong client and regulatory relationships; and overseeing project planning, bidding, scheduling, compliance, and closeout.
- Plan, schedule, and manage projects to meet client goals and expectations.
- Define and communicate roles and responsibilities to division staff to ensure safe, on-time, and within-budget project completion.
- Enforce safety standards and guidelines across all job sites.
- Monitor contractual commitments, ensuring all work aligns with plans, specifications, and contract terms; process change orders and claims promptly.
- Review vendor invoices and payment applications for accuracy.
- Lead client meetings to communicate project progress, crew schedules, scope revisions, and timeline updates.
- Conduct internal coordination meetings covering project administration, engineering, materials, and construction activities.
- Oversee material procurement to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of project requirements.
- Ensure proper review and completion of key documents, including project plans, permits, schedules, and status reports.
- Manage project closeout procedures and facilitate post-job reviews.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and training to project personnel.
- Optimize resource utilization, including labor, fleet, tools, and equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Strong understanding of contracts, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, make informed decisions, and adapt to changing conditions.
- Strong multitasking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Thorough understanding of engineering and construction drawings.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to work outdoors, endure physical activity, and adapt to varying weather conditions.
- 10+ years of project management experience in construction, including underground utilities, excavation, structures, and/or paving.
- Experience in project estimating, cost and schedule management, procurement, permitting, and team leadership.
- Field experience in pipeline and underground utility construction/supervision.
