Structor Construction is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to run significant portions of our commercial projects. You'll own procurement, billing, and change management while building the financial and contractual judgment that makes a strong Project Manager. You'll also start developing the Project Engineers behind you.
Key roles/responsibilities:
- Draft, negotiate, and route change orders between ownership and subcontractors
- Compile owner billing packages and verify subcontractor invoices
- Track procurement timelines and expedite ahead of schedule need dates
- Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders
- Coordinate MEP installations across trades
- Lead project closeout
- Mentor Project Engineers and prioritize their workload
Required education, experience, and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business — or equivalent field experience
- 3+ years of construction experience, typically as a Project Engineer
- Demonstrated ownership of a scope from procurement through closeout
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Autodesk Forma Build, MS Project, and BIM software
- Confident reading plans, specs, and contract documents
- Valid driver's license
Working conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
