The Project Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Frisco, TX, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for residential construction, remodeling projects, and commercial maintenance work. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing project plans and specifications, conducting site visits as needed, and collaborating with project managers and field teams to understand scope and requirements. The role involves sourcing and analyzing bids from subcontractors and suppliers, developing detailed budgets and proposals, and updating estimates as designs or project conditions change.
The Project Estimator will track costs against budgets, provide clear communication to supervisors regarding pricing, timelines, and project risks. This position contributes directly to project delivery and supports MTR's commitment to transparency and customer satisfaction.
- Cost Management and Budgeting skills to develop, analyze, and track project budgets and financial forecasts.
- Construction Estimating and Project Estimation experience to prepare detailed, accurate estimates for residential and commercial projects.
- Strong Communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients, and to present estimates clearly.
- Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, and related construction management tools.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work on-site in Frisco, TX and conduct field visits to project locations as required.
- Relevant education or experience in construction management, engineering, or a related field; prior experience as an estimator or in a similar role is highly beneficial.
Working at the office Monday - Friday; 8:00am-5:30pm. Hours could vary depending on the project(s) being run. Expected to be working at the office when not at projects or quotes.
Working and supervising when necessary at the showroom or other job sites
Willing to help subcontractors finish work as required to keep the project moving—may require general labor during PM work days to try to avoid project delay
Showing up to all scheduled quotes and keeping track of appointments and meetings on the MTR Calendar
Meeting with customers at their homes/job sites or at the MTR office when office schedules meetings
Running projects, properly supervising, making sure subcontractors are signing in, wearing MTR shirts, scheduling inspections, calling vendors regarding specific client-materials, keeping projects on track, notating daily activity with each project and client on CRM system
Using CRM to track the status of projects/potential client meetings/work
Reviewing items customers are purchasing for their installs—ensuring they're getting what they're supposed to
Coordinating projects with subcontractors and communicating that to the office for scheduling
Finding the best pricing/quality work from subcontractors; finding and vetting new subcontractors (subject to office approval)
Coordinating ETAs with Vendors to ensure proper scheduling of projects
