Teacher - English as a Second Language (ESL) – Secondary
Frisco ISD is inviting applications for an ESL Teacher who will support closing the English Learner achievement gap and accelerating learning for EL students. Under the supervision of the ESL Coordinator and in collaboration with campus staff, the ESL teacher will provide job‑embedded training and capacity building to improve classroom linguistic instruction.
Responsibilities- Deliver English language instruction to EL students in the ESL classroom and as the teacher of record for ESL classes.
- Model and facilitate ESL learning opportunities for campus staff, serving as the lead language learner.
- Co‑plan, co‑teach, and complete professional learning cycles, fostering collaborative relationships with instructional coaches and department heads.
- Support the implementation of state standards (ELPS) through district‑adopted curricula and sheltered instructional strategies.
- Use data to assess student proficiency, adjust instruction, and communicate progress to administrators and families.
- Coordinate TELPAS testing for the assigned campus.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, ESL department meetings, ILA department meetings, and staff committees.
- Maintain ethical confidentiality regarding student and teacher records.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university;
Master’s degree preferred. - Valid Texas teaching certificate covering all grade levels on an assigned campus with required ESL supplemental certification.
- Knowledge of English Language Arts TEKS and core content area curriculum.
- Ability to instruct students, manage behavior, and employ instructional strategies appropriate for EL proficiency levels.
- Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum three years of classroom experience, including experience as an ELAR/ESL teacher.
- Lead language learner role, modeling and facilitating ESL learning for staff.
- Teacher of record for ESL classes.
- Professional learning partner with instructional coaches and department heads to improve EL outcomes.
- Reflect on data to adjust linguistic instruction and support EL students’ academic progress.
