Job Title: Early Learning Campus Teacher Aide

Department: Full Time 10 Months

Reports To: Early Learning Campus Principal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

To assist classroom teachers in the instructional process, reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom environment. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans and provide routine support. Assist students with academic and/or physical needs in order for students to access the educational environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the ELC department in implementing classroom instruction based on predefined curriculum.
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment for children.
  • Assist the lead teacher in ensuring the physical, social, cognitive, spiritual, and educational excellence of the children.
  • Ensure that the classroom is aesthetically attractive so that students enjoy their surroundings while learning.
  • Provide support to the lead teacher in planning lessons, preparing materials, and daily activities based on the principles of child development.
  • Ensure development of positive relationships with children which promotes self-esteem and self-discipline.
  • Provide comfort to distressed children through compassion and tact.
  • Provide children with support during lunchtime and ensure that their nutritional needs are fulfilled.
  • Escort children to the restroom and assist them when necessary.
  • Oversee children to make sure that they are safe during outdoor activities.
  • Assume the lead teacher role in the absence thereof if necessary.
  • Ensure positive relationships with lead teachers and other School staff.
  • Provide support to the lead teacher with clean up at the end of the day.
  • Provide assistance and/or instruction for special classes as directed by the ELC Principal (example – music, Spanish, PE, chapel, etc.).
  • Maintain a positive attitude and desire to be flexible for the good of the ELC program.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of each child’s records, academic progress, and behavior.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development training, and other events as required by the ELC Principal.
  • Assist children with exiting and entering vehicles during morning and afternoon carlines.
  • Assist in other areas as deemed necessary by the ELC Principal and lead teacher.

Qualifications

Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children and parents/guardians and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school’s program and philosophy.

Language Ability: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, handbooks, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of students and staff.

Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
