Middle School, Special Education Teacher
• Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in 6th grade Reading/ELAR
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the district curriculum
• Prepare lessons accommodating differences in student learning styles
• Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations
• Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology
• Assess student learning styles and achievement through formal and informal testing
• Modify curricula for special education students in cooperation with special education teachers and IEP guidelines
• Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods
• Supervise teacher aides and volunteers
• Support student study methods, habits, growth, and development
• Assume assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities
• Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
• Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
• Conduct conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
• Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and staff committees
• Maintain required physical and computerized reports, records, and documents
• Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for the assigned subject and level
- Demonstrated competency in the assigned academic subject area
- Knowledge of the assigned academic subject
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to frequently stand, stoop, bend, pull, and push
- Ability to move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment
Demonstrates expertise in developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with district curriculum while accommodating diverse student learning styles. Proficient in managing classroom behavior and fostering a conducive learning environment in accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines.
