Special Education Aide – Life Skills

• Assist the special education teacher with students’ physical and instructional needs
• Help prepare instructional materials
• Keep administrative records and prepare required reports
• Provide assistance to substitute teachers
• Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs
• Help manage student behavior
• Support instructional needs in accordance with Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs)
• Assist students with personal care as appropriate
• Learn and adapt to each student’s special needs
• Work with individual students or small groups
• Supervise students throughout the school day inside and outside the classroom
• Inform the teacher of individual students’ special needs or problems
• Maintain confidentiality
• Participate in staff development training programs and special events as assigned
