Sr. Environmental Scientist

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Sr.
Environmental Scientist to work in diverse team environments across Lisle, IL, Dallas, TX, and Charlotte, NC. The role involves project management, employee development, client engagement, and occasional travel.

• Providing leadership to support environmental compliance services on various energy and utilities projects, including telecom, renewable, and oil & gas projects.
• Managing projects, tasks, and staff to support environmental compliance needs of clients and engineering project managers.
• Supervising, training, and mentoring less experienced team members.
• Prioritizing and delegating project responsibilities while fostering the development of junior staff.
• Completing proposals and estimating project budgets.
• Supporting field investigations to delineate and map wetlands, perform environmental compliance inspections, describe habitat, and report environmental conditions to design engineers.
• Researching and completing environmental permitting at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Composing, reviewing, and submitting a variety of regulatory documents including SPCC Plans, SWPPP, and BMP Plans.
• Cultivating strong client relationships.
• Working with project teams, technical staff, and subcontractors.

• BS (MS preferred) in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Natural Resources, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of related environmental project management experience.
• Experience collecting GPS data and creating maps in ArcGIS Pro.
• Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, etc.).
• Strong team‑player skills in a multi‑disciplinary environment with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including facilitation and presentation capabilities.
• Computer proficiency with MS Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to travel on short notice.
• Valid driver’s license.
