Tax Accountant, Financial Analyst
What You’ll Do
- Support payroll consulting engagements across a range of clients, industries, and geographies.
- Assist in assessing and improving client payroll processes, controls, and procedures.
- Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews, including federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support payroll tax activities, including preparation and review of forms (e.g., 941, 941‑X, W‑2C).
- Assist with payroll setup and configuration, including earnings, deductions, and tax treatments.
- Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support reviews related to employee classification, wage treatment, and overtime calculations.
- Research and apply payroll regulations, including reciprocity and other multistate considerations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver timely, accurate, and high‑quality work.
- Communicate payroll concepts and findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Contribute to project deliverables and ensure work is completed on time and aligned with expectations.
- 3‑5 years of payroll experience, ideally within a consulting firm, payroll provider, or in‑house payroll function.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance requirements, and multistate regulations.
- Experience with payroll tax forms and filings.
- Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, SAP, Oracle/People Soft, Paycom, Paycor, or similar platforms.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification strongly preferred (or in progress).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Build and apply technical payroll knowledge across a variety of client situations.
- Take a proactive, detail‑oriented approach to delivering high‑quality work.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Stay current on payroll regulations and industry trends.
- Demonstrate responsiveness and a strong commitment to client service.

The pay rate range for this job position is $49,500 to $118,990. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicant’s skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements, and geographic location.
