Position: Portfolio Manager II / Sr Portfolio Manager - Financial Institutions Group

General Function

The Portfolio Manager is a key member of the coverage team, managing transactions and business portfolio tasks. PMs are expected to be intimately involved in the deal process, making recommendations on appropriate credit structures, pricing, etc. PMs are directly accountable for managing a portfolio of accounts through their review of updated financial statements, proactive monitoring, and interaction with the Credit Analyst.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Accountable for managing a portfolio of accounts.
  • Review and recommend credit decisions.
  • Partner with the Relationship Manager forming the coverage team to meet with clients, participate in business development calls, assess prospective client viability for credit, define borrowers and guarantors, deal structure, credit terms and conditions, and financial covenants and value collateral.
  • Generate commitment letters.
  • Provide business partners with credit lending policy interpretation.
  • Perform final risk rating analysis.
  • Capture and document credit decisions, conditions, and modifications.
  • Collaborate with the Credit Analyst to perform portfolio management duties such as establishing and maintaining Investor Group on lender portal, performing monitoring actions and conducting periodic deal reviews and executing decisions to renew or modify deals.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding credit events and actions as needed.
  • Work independently to pitch the most complex deal structures.
  • Focus on continuous learning to keep up with ever‑changing market dynamics.
  • Serve as subject‑matter expert, mentor to more junior PMs and Credit Analysts.
  • Leverage expertise to provide partners insights into the Bank's different lines of business and related economics.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback, developing employees to their fullest potential, offering challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth, developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning, and recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.

Skills And Abilities

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting).
  • At least 8 years of credit analysis and/or loan review experience in Commercial Banking, ideally including Insurance, Payments, and/or Non‑Bank Finance companies;
    Portfolio Manager II role will accept less experience.
  • Experience in Financial Institutions, primarily Insurance, preferred.
  • Highly proficient analytical skills, critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Professional presence (client‑facing).
  • Experience managing an advanced commercial client portfolio with a great deal of complexity.
  • Ability to partner with all deal stakeholders including clients, relationship managers and credit teams.
  • Expertise in financial and risk analysis, including financial modeling.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using effective problem‑solving techniques.
  • Proficiency with technology and ability to learn new applications.
  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.
  • Extended viewing of a CRT screen.
  • Some travel required.

96,500.00 –  USD Annual
