Employee is responsible for ensuring that cancer records are abstracted and, as required, sent to the Texas Cancer Registry (TCR). This includes identifying, collecting, coding, and entering the data into the registry database. Ensures the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of the submission of these abstracts.
Qualifications- A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Cancer Registrar or equivalent coursework
- A current designation of Oncology Data Specialist – Certified (ODS-C) is preferred.
- Basic PC Skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
- Demonstration of good use of the English language with good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
- Ability to research identified problems with an initiative to identify possible solutions
- Ability to pay good attention to detail and multitasking
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
