Multimodality technologist – mid shift

Performing quality diagnostic exams, performs OR procedures including portables and C-arms, assists with Fluoro-guided procedures as needed in the department, and covers CT exams later in the evening. Performs patient exams on time. Safely operates ALL X-ray equipment following manufacturer’s guidelines and ALARA. Prepares the patient’s room with needed supplies and medications/contrast. Provides history and communicates with the Radiologist regarding protocol changes.

Provides essential Imaging services for the department. Practices Image Gently and Image Wisely on ALL exams.

• ARRT Registered in X-ray
• Preferred (5) years in OR/diagnostic and (1) year of experience in CT
• Licensed by the Texas Department of Health as a Medical Radiologic Technologist – General License
• Current BLS Certification
• Willing to participate in the Departmental Call Rotation
• Must be available to work holidays and other shifts as needed

• Produces radiographs with appropriate technical factors, develops X-ray films, and checks each film for proper positioning and exposure.
• Proficient in the use of Radiology equipment and exposure.
• Practices proper radiation safety (ALARA) techniques on all procedures performed.
• Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed. Maintains accurate QC logs and service records. Etc.
• Obtains and examines the requisitions and physicians’ orders – be aware of information such as the condition of the patients, the procedure requested, and any other special notes and comments.
• Coordinates patient flow to maximize patients’ comfort.
• Establishes priorities and goals, effectively assesses situations, weighs alternatives, and makes decisions consistent with the job.
• Ability to take appropriate measures in regard to the patient’s age and risk factors when performing diagnostic procedures.
• Participates in staff meetings and educational activities.
• Demonstrate flexibility in staffing and scheduling requirements in order to meet the needs of the department and the hospital.
• Willingness to float to other sections of the department when necessary for patient care and safety. Is helpful and productive throughout the assigned float time period.
• Is in compliance with all other hospital or departmental policies and procedures not listed previously.
• Understands the clinical competency system.
• Supports the educational process of affiliated students.
• Demonstrates responsibility for the care of patients undergoing treatment and for the use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns, and exposure to extraneous radiation.
• Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures while operating mobile radiographic equipment in the OR.
• Assists the radiologist with varying studies, including, but not limited to: arthrograms, myelograms, lumbar punctures, inter-articular injections, biopsies, abscess drainages, tube placements, and tube injections.
• Advanced procedures could include Nephrostomy placement/injections, ureteral stents, cystostomy, nephroureterostomy, renal angiography, and venous interventional studies.
• Can perform basic CT examinations to cover our ER
