Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Frisco is searching to hire a full‑time Postpartum Registered Nurse. The RN will plan, direct, coordinate, and implement nursing care for postpartum and gynecological patients, ensuring high quality and safe delivery consistent with professional nursing, Joint Commission, and all Federal and State standards. The RN cares for patients from adolescents to geriatric ages.

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• At least 1 year of experience as an RN in a hospital setting on an L/D, Antepartum, Postpartum or medical‑surgical unit.
• Graduate Nurses will be considered for an internship on a case‑by‑case basis.
• RN licensure, current in the State of Texas.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) required before completion of orientation.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient and unit needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Perform direct patient care within the scope of the RN practice act and according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Assess patient’s psychosocial, educational, and physical needs and address them in an age‑appropriate manner.
• Perform maternal/fetal monitoring, assessment, and interpretation.
• Monitor lab values and report abnormalities or critical values per policy.
• Assist with monitoring patients requiring anesthesia, including epidurals, general, and local anesthesia.
• Communicate patient status to oncoming nurses using the SHARE format and provide bedside report to involve patients in their care.
• Respond to patients with compassion, consideration, and respect.
• Follow hospital policies regarding EMTALA, triage of the OB patient, and MSE.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.
• Develop and prioritize plans of care to achieve measurable goals; update care plans daily.
• Identify educational needs, implement and evaluate learning, and document patient/family education.
• Manage acute and chronic pain in all patients using pharmacological and non‑pharmacological interventions to alleviate suffering and improve healing.
• Deliver medication based on continual assessment, safety, and evaluation of patient response.
• Assist new mothers with breastfeeding per policies and protocols.
• Follow documentation policies using the GE Centricity Perinatal System.
• Use Meditech system for documentation of care, printing lab reports, entering orders, discharging patients, and accessing drug monograms and information for EMR.
• Utilize appropriate referral resources as needed.
• Maintain patient safety and security using the HUGS system and infant abduction prevention policy and procedure.
• Operate equipment required for patient care.
• Complete all mandatory departmental and hospital‑wide education in a timely manner.
• Use the chain of command for patient and personal concerns.
