Position:
Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CVIS). Will train eligible candidates.
Days 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM with rotating day off. Four 10‑hour shifts per week. On‑call: STEMI call required, approximately 7–8 days per month including one weekend. Calendar holidays rotate annually and include at least one major (Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year’s) and one minor (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day).

Job SummaryThe Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist assists physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures. Prepares room and equipment, instructs patients, monitors patient condition, and provides routine and emergency care during procedures. Contributes to orientation and training of other team members. Participates in quality control initiatives through auditing and reporting.
Essential Functions of the Role- Helps physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, pacemaker implantations, implantable defibrillators, coronary and peripheral interventions, and interventional and thrombolytic therapy.
- Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients and staff; provides emergency procedures such as CPR and defibrillation when needed.
- Performs pre‑ and post‑procedure care and monitoring.
- Orients patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures and answers related questions to ensure patient relaxation.
- Monitors patient ECG, pressures, temperature, and impedances while in the electrophysiology lab; notifies physician of variances.
- Assists in operating RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3‑D mapping, and records procedural documentation.
- Manages and maintains imaging studies, including stenosis testing and formatting for cardiac and peripheral cases.
- Documents procedure rooms, collects registry and quality data on appropriate forms, gathers catheterization data, and prepares procedure reports.
- Prepares and maintains sterile fields for lab procedures; orders and maintains inventory of procedure room supplies.
- Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment has not expired; coordinates and audits resources during yearly inventories.
- Performs routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment; notifies appropriate team members for repairs.
- Assists in the orientation and training of new staff and students, performs extra duties as established by the supervisor or manager.
- Oversees quality control monitoring, such as NPSG auditing, turnaround times, performance improvement initiatives, and participates in mutual governance, departmental and hospital committees.
- Transports patients to and from the procedural area.

Experience:
Must meet one of the following:
Associate's degree in a related field; completion of a U.S. military training program and equivalent experience to an Associate's degree; or 2 years of related cardiovascular lab experience. - Must be available for on‑call response requirements per facility/department policy.
- Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular instrumentation and techniques.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.

Associate's degree. - Required Experience:
Will train. Current CVIS/CVIT students, recent graduates, and radiology technicians welcome to apply. - Preferred Experience:
2+ years in a cath lab or EP lab.
- ACLS – must obtain within 30 days of hire/transfer.
- BLS – must obtain within 30 days of hire/transfer.
- Must hold at least one of the following: ARRT‑R Radiography and Medical Radiologic Technician (MRT) through the Texas Medical Board;
Cardio Invasive Spec (RCIS);
Reg Cardiac Electro Spec (RCES);
Cert Electro Spec (CEPS);
Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS).
