The Clinical Staff Assistant I directly interacts with patients by phone and face‑to‑face under direct supervision to support medical front‑office business operations in an outpatient clinical setting. - High School Diploma or GED with prior customer service experience
- Successful completion of CSA competencies in two (2) clinical front‑office operations within six to twelve months of hire
- Degree in a related field and/or related experience
- Related work experience in a clinical front‑office setting
- Learn and demonstrate proficiency in at least two of the following clinical front‑office operations within six to twelve months: registration, scheduling, inbound call documentation, insurance entry and verification, referrals management, cash drawer/payment posting, check‑in/check‑out.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Epic EMR system user operations and front‑office clinical workflows and policies.
- Deliver superior customer service and represent UT Southwestern positively to patients, colleagues, and the community.
- Build rapport and communicate with internal and external team members to ensure best patient outcomes.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and UT Southwestern policy.
- Keep customer waiting area neat and well‑stocked with materials.
- Ensure adequate inventory of office supplies and patient forms for day‑to‑day clinic functions.
- Support core functions that may include direct patient interaction, care for research participants, or maintaining patient records.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
