MRI TECHNOLOGIST
JOB DESCRIPTION
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires strong technical skills and strict adherence to MRI safety standards, while providing excellent patient care. The MRI Technologist reports to the Office Manager of Blue Star Imaging and is a Full Time position based in Frisco , TX.
Responsibilities
- Perform MRI examinations according to established protocols and physician orders
- Prepare and screen patients for MRI procedures, ensuring compliance with MRI safety standards
- Explain procedures to patients and address questions or concerns to reduce anxiety
- Properly position patients to obtain optimal image quality; may require moving/lifting patients
- Operate MRI equipment and related imaging software
- Administer contrast agents as ordered and monitor patients for adverse reactions
- Maintain strict adherence to MRI safety policies, including ferromagnetic screening and zone control
- Monitor image quality and make necessary technical adjustments
- Accurately document procedures, patient history, and imaging data in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Communicate effectively with radiologists and other healthcare team members
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program Minimum 1-year clinical experience in MRI
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT[R]) by ARRT
- ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) or MR registry eligible
- BLS/CPR certification
- Thorough knowledge of MRI safety standards and protocols
- Familiarity with PACS and EMR systems
- Prior MRI experience in a hospital or outpatient imaging setting is preferred
- Experience with contrast administration and IV insertion
- Experience with advanced MRI procedures (e.g., neuro, musculoskeletal)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize normal vs. abnormal findings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Ability to assist and position patients, including lifting up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Physical stamina to stand for hours, bend, lean, squat, and/or sit as needed throughout the day.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer systems.
