The Software License Compliance/Vendor Manager serves as a strategic vendor manager and primary point of contact between Procurement, vendors, and the ITAM team regarding software license compliance, audit readiness, and contract interpretation.
This role focuses on strategic vendor management, supplier-facing communication, audit coordination, and ensuring accurate and complete entitlement data is available for the ITAM function.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary strategic owner for assigned vendor relationships, ensuring alignment to enterprise technology, financial, operational, and risk objectives.
- Lead and mature vendor governance for strategic vendors including quarterly business reviews (QBRs), executive business reviews, and strategic roadmaps
- Partner closely with IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to drive alignment between business requirements and vendor capabilities.
- Act as the liaison with software vendors, resellers, and auditors regarding license compliance, true-ups, and audit inquiries.
- Coordinate with ITAM team to provide entitlement data, clarify license metrics, and validate findings during compliance reviews or audits.
- Interpret vendor licensing models and audit clauses to identify potential risks or negotiation leverage points.
- Partner with Legal and Procurement teams to support negotiation of favorable contract, audit terms and remediation clauses in new contracts.
- Maintain vendor-facing documentation related to licensing positions, contract summaries, and compliance status.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–7 years of experience in software procurement, vendor management, or software license compliance.
- Direct experience with vendor management and software audit or true-up processes.
- Strong understanding of software licensing and entitlement structures across major publishers (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, Service Now, IBM, Adobe).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to represent internal positions to external parties.
- Collaborative mindset and experience working across Procurement, Legal, and IT functions.
