Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Work Week:
First 3 weeks need to be onsite 3 days a week for training, learning the environment and projects, on-call rotation every 5 weeks then will be able to work remote on a come in as needed basis

6 month contract with potential to convert to full time.

• Migrating websites from traditional VMware environment to Azure-300+ websites
• Migrating from on-prem to Azure cloud
• SQL migration to Azure cloud going on simultaneously
• Some VMware experience needed since it’s on a VMware platform
• Engineer must be a strong communicator, outgoing personality, able to interface with the team, ability to speak up and be vocal, customer support/service is a priority
• Good knowledge of Power Shell
• 6+ month contract with potential to extend
• Mostly remote

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, security, and performance across enterprise systems. This role focuses on cloud platform administration, infrastructure automation, virtualization, networking, and operational support.

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will drive cloud modernization initiatives by leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation frameworks, cloud-native services, monitoring platforms, and security best practices. The position also provides advanced technical support and participates in 24x7 on‑call rotation for critical infrastructure support.

• Design, deploy, administer, and optimize cloud and infrastructure solutions in Microsoft Azure.
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, ARM/Bicep, or similar automation technologies.
• Build and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Develop and maintain cloud networking solutions including virtual networks, VPN connectivity, routing, firewalls, DNS, and hybrid connectivity architectures.
• Implement cloud security controls and infrastructure hardening standards including IAM, endpoint protection, network security policies, and intrusion detection/prevention solutions.
• Monitor infrastructure health, availability, performance, and cloud resource utilization using enterprise monitoring and observability platforms.
• Support CI/CD pipeline integration and infrastructure deployment automation in collaboration with Dev Ops and application delivery teams.
• Configure and manage virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere and cloud-native compute services.
• Manage enterprise networking infrastructure including LAN/WAN, VPN connectivity, routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, and wireless networking.
• Maintain infrastructure documentation, architecture standards, operational procedures, and technical runbooks.
• Support compliance and governance initiatives including PCI DSS, SOC 1, and SOC 2 by maintaining technical controls, configurations, and audit evidence.
• Provide Tier III infrastructure engineering support for critical production environments.
• Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule supporting enterprise cloud and infrastructure services.

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure and systems administration.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Must have experience working closely with users and management.
• Able to work under limited supervision and exercise independent judgment.
• Knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing.
• Understanding of cloud security, identity and access management (IAM), and compliance best practices.
• Can lead projects through complex tasks.
• Flexible and able to quickly adapt and learn new technologies. Certifications in Microsoft Azure is preferred.

• Working technical knowledge of current systems hardware, protocols, and standards.
• Experience managing IP based systems consisting of multiple subnets and VLANs.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of the concepts of cloud computing (infrastructure / software / platform as a service) and the ability to apply those concepts in the use of diverse cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
