Director of Operations – Inventory Initiatives & Projects

Position Summary
The Director of Operations – Inventory Initiatives & Projects is responsible for leading enterprise-wide initiatives to reduce waste, improve decision-making, and build organizational capability across end-to-end inventory management processes. This role focuses on driving visibility, establishing routines, and standardizing processes to improve performance across obsolescence, trade break, resets, and overall inventory health. The position operates cross-functionally, influencing Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Commercial teams to deliver measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive visibility and insight through weekly analytics and reporting that enable fact-based decision-making and accountability
- Establish and sustain operating routines and governance to manage inventory and BSO performance end-to-end
- Lead enterprise inventory initiatives focused on reducing waste across obsolescence, trade break, resets, and inventory quality
- Develop and implement enterprise BSO training programs by function to build capability and drive consistent execution
- Standardize key inventory management processes including 30-60-90, donations, destructions, trade break, resets, and repack
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Analytics teams to remove barriers and drive outcomes
- Lead cross-functional projects from definition through execution, ensuring alignment, progress tracking, and results delivery
- Align stakeholders on priorities, ensure actions are established, and drive accountability across functions
- Identify upstream drivers of inventory risk and partner with teams to improve forecasting, inventory management, and execution discipline
Total Rewards:
- $155,500-$180,000 / year
- Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in DSD, operations, supply chain, or related field
- Strong cross-functional leadership and influencing skills without direct authority
- Proven ability to lead large-scale initiatives and drive measurable business results
- Experience with inventory management, supply chain operations, or DSD environments preferred
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Excellent communication and executive presentation skills
- Ability to build processes, routines, and governance structures in complex environments
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple functions and levels of the organization
