Job Summary

Under routine supervision, the Capacity Coordinator II is responsible for coordinating a mid‑sized group of carriers and/or independently contracted drivers. This position ensures safe & timely service through the accurate planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery of freight and loads. The incumbent must be able to work any shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility in scheduling to ensure operational success, covering day, night, and weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain positive, professional, safe, and reliable relationships with carriers and independently contracted drivers to ensure seamless new carrier set‑up, minimize turnover, and maximize ongoing productivity.
  • Optimize operations & maximize profitability through understanding key performance indicators.
  • Create, maintain, and present customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis.
  • Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and assignment of carriers or drivers to balance equipment in the market.
  • Perform administrative duties such as payroll, management of the Net‑Revenue budget, filing and documenting, resolving settlement issues, analyzing P&L statements, invoicing, and creating operational or financial reports.
  • Coordinate yard duties such as checking/inspecting equipment and partnering with maintenance to ensure all preventative maintenance services are scheduled on time and all safety‑related mechanical issues are fixed for account equipment.
  • Act as liaison among carriers, drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing/planning, mechanical problems, and accessorial pay issues throughout the day and on call.
  • Maintain the company’s safety culture by complying with external & internal regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on‑time service, meeting customer requirements and managing exceptions based on pickup, delivery schedules, and other environmental factors.
  • Assist in training entry‑level and other team members to ensure they perform work duties in accordance with standards and protocols.
  • Assist on special projects related to optimizing operations and maximizing profitability.
Qualifications Minimum Qualification
  • High School Diploma or GED with 2–3 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience, and the ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.
  • Strong professional communication skills applied internally and externally.
  • Proven experience establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships.
  • Experience fostering strong customer relationships by delivering commitments, open communication, and ongoing feedback/improvement.
  • Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
  • Accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Experience in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to consistently travel to account and customer locations.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities and directives.
  • Experience holding people accountable & conducting difficult conversations.
  • Ability to perform in a stressful and high‑pressure work environment.
Preferred Qualification
  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field and 1–2 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
