Director of Internal Controls

Optimize is proud to partner with a growing organization in the Frisco area seeking a Director of Internal Controls.

• Own the full SOX 404 compliance program, including framework design aligned to COSO and PCAOB standards, annual scoping, risk assessment, and maintaining the Risk & Control Matrix (RCM) across all processes.
• Oversee control testing and deficiency management, from walkthroughs and operating effectiveness testing through evaluating deficiency severity, driving remediation with process owners, and reporting status to executive leadership and auditors.
• Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and SOX consultants, coordinating timelines, deliverables, and issue resolution while ensuring no late-cycle surprises.
• Drive control optimization and automation across O2C, P2P, and R2R cycles, standardizing and modernizing how SOX compliance is executed across the organization.
• Cross-functional partner and SOX educator, working closely with Accounting and SEC Reporting on close and disclosure controls while building organization-wide SOX awareness through a coaching-first approach — leading a small team (one direct report: Sr. Accountant level).

• CPA OR CIA
• 10+ years of strong SOX/Audit experience
• Strong expertise in SOX 404, COSO and PCAOB standards
