Registered Nurse (RN) Surgical Inpatient Full Time Nights

Work hours:

Full Time Nights (7p-7a) Weekend and holiday requirements

• 16‑bed Surgical unit – fast paced, quick turnover
• Experience with tele, surgical preferred - primary surgical unit and take med/surg overflow (1:4 patient ratio, at times 1:5)

• Nursing Diploma
• Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
• BSN preferred
• One‑year experience as a registered nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
• One year of Emergency experience strongly preferred
• 1‑2 years charge experience in Medical Surgical preferred
• RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care
• BCLS - upon hire - expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
• ACLS - upon hire required
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - within 60 days of hire

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age‑specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter‑shift, inter‑hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
