Center of Excellence Bariatric Coordinator

The Center of Excellence Bariatric Coordinator works in collaboration with the Center of Excellence team, assisting in patient education classes and providing nursing support to the patients, families, staff, and physicians. The Coordinator will support continuous readiness for the Bariatric program by actively participating in ongoing compliance activities. This includes participating in Physician team meetings, MBSAQIP Team meetings and activities, representing the Bariatric Program as needed.

Monitors quality standards as determined by the Performance Improvement Plan, MBSAQIP standards, and other regulatory agencies. This role assists the Center of Excellence Director with report generation and review, process improvement, staff education, and patient satisfaction.

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in patient care in a hospital setting
• Experience in bariatric care preferred
• Current RN License in the State of Texas
• Current CPR or BLS
• Current Bariatric Nurse Certification required
• Excellent communication skills
• Good organizational habits
• Excellent Leadership skills
• Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures, and management of the surgical patient
• Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and develop appropriate plans of action to move the facility ahead in its goals
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent teaching skills
