Regional Oncology Registered Nurse; RN - Northeast Texas; NETX Region

Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a Regional Float Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! In this role, you’ll provide essential cross‑coverage support in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Infusion nursing units, rotating through select clinics throughout the Northeast Texas (NETX) Region.

Sites include: Frisco, Frisco West, Allen, McKinney South, McKinney North, Plano West, Garland, Rowlett, Castle Hills, Lewisville, Flower Mound, Denton, Denison, and Greenville.

Full‑time, Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5 pm.

No weekends, on‑call, or major holidays.

• Assessing, planning, coordinating, and evaluating patient care.
• Conducting health assessments, obtaining patient histories, and providing education.
• Offering psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Safely preparing and administering therapies (medications, blood products) in accordance with governing standards.
• Performing venipuncture, accessing ports, and maintaining central lines.
• Monitoring labs, facilitating dose modifications per protocol, and consulting with providers for orders.
• Managing triage calls, symptom management, and medication management with accurate documentation.
• Assisting patients in accessing community resources.
• Opportunity to cross‑train and expand into subspecialty areas (Gyn Onc, BMT, Pediatrics) as the Float Pool role evolves.
• Following the Nursing Float Pool Playbook for role‑and‑assignment‑specific expectations.

Level I

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Entry‑level 0‑3 years nursing experience, one (1) year strongly preferred for float pool.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills to thrive in diverse clinical environments.
• Excellent critical thinking and communication abilities.
• Comfort supporting multiple areas of oncology care, with interest in developing skills in subspecialties such as Gyn Onc, BMT, or Pediatrics.
• Must maintain continuing education requirements.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or prior oncology/infusion/radiation experience preferred.
• Strong IV and central line skills preferred.
• Comfort with EHR systems (OncoEMR, Epic, or similar).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Level II

• In addition to level I:
• Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.

Level Senior

• In addition to levels I and II:
• Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred.

The work environment includes possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
