Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to care for patients of all ages experiencing health changes. The RN participates in patient and family care using critical thinking, teamwork, effective communication, and nursing knowledge. Responsibilities include maintaining high‑quality patient care and adherence to Texas Board of Nursing standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient‑focused care for acutely ill or injured patients, ensuring accurate documentation and implementation of care plans.
  • Ensure holistic and compassionate care addressing both clinical and emotional needs.
  • Triage and prioritize patient care based on acuity and available resources.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for coordinated patient care.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures set forth by regulatory bodies and maintain safety protocols in laboratory settings.
  • Deliver basic respiratory services as needed and monitor patient conditions effectively.
  • Facilitate patient transfers and discharges, maintaining excellent communication throughout.
  • Engage in ongoing staff development, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Adapt to dynamic situations and maintain composure under stress.
  • Execute additional assigned duties diligently and participate in department policy development.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas (or compact license).
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong organizational abilities.
