2552 W. Eldorado Parkway Suite 550, Frisco, Texas 75033. This position will float across multiple Texas Health Urgent Care locations.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing direct consumer care to assigned patients within an urgent care setting. This role works under limited direction in coordination with an APP lead and requires specialized knowledge, critical thinking, sound judgment, and strong customer service skills. The APP interacts with medical staff, management, consumers, physicians, outside medical staff, and community resource services.

Education
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant accepted if graduate of an accredited program prior to January 2021.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program required.
Experience
  • 6 months as an APP in an urgent care or emergency department setting required, or
  • 1 year in family practice or related field required.
  • Suturing experience strongly preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with the state of Texas upon hire.
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) with Texas licensure and a certificate to practice as an NP issued by the Texas State Board upon hire, and national certification or eligibility for certification upon hire.
  • Physician Assistant (PA) with the state of Texas upon hire, Texas licensure and a certificate to practice as a PA issued by the Texas State Board upon hire, and national certification or eligibility for certification upon hire.
  • Valid Drug Enforcement Agency license upon hire.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, maintained every two years and completed within 30 days of hire.
Essential Functions
  • Performs and provides treatments for minor acute illnesses, conducts consumer examinations, initiates treatment, and refers to appropriate care centers when applicable.
  • Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests such as X‑rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies and interpreting results.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures, including injections, immunizations, suturing, wound management, and infection treatment.
  • Instructs and counsels consumers on therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, and promotes wellness and health maintenance.
  • Develops and implements consumer management plans, records progress notes, and assists in continuity of care. May supervise ancillary staff.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals and treatment regimens appropriate to assessed medical conditions and refers consumers to specialists and relevant care options.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills by coordinating services with co‑workers and other departments or services.
  • Responds calmly and rationally to stressful situations, cooperating to facilitate integration of services.
  • Behaves professionally and empathetically to build trust, comfort, and relationships with consumers and guests, aligning with service standards.
