Purpose and Scope
Under supervision is responsible for the operational condition, maintenance, and repair of all water systems, medical equipment, and mechanical/electrical systems to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Responsible for inventory and housekeeping as required and assists in cost containment in the facility. Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including all regulatory and FMS policy requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service:
Drive the FMS culture through values and customer service standards. Accountable for outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers, developing and maintaining effective relationships through effective and timely communication, and taking initiative to respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues. - Maintenance/Technical:
Maintain, test, and repair all water treatment equipment, dialysis equipment, medical equipment, testing equipment, and mechanical/electrical systems per manufacturer recommendations and procedure standards. Document all maintenance and repairs, ensure safety checks and routine tasks are conducted and documented, conduct housekeeping checks, clean and disinfect water treatment equipment, calibrate testing equipment, maintain environmental integrity, conduct building maintenance, coordinate medical waste disposal, restock supplies, assist in ordering and receiving supplies, create SAP purchase orders, and assist in monthly and quarterly inventory with cost reporting. - Patient Care:
Ensure visibility to patients with daily walk‑throughs during treatment times, reinforce customer service principles, provide instructive tours of water treatment equipment for patients, and explain machine basics. - Clerical & Administrative:
Process water and dialysate samples per specified procedures, package samples for shipping, and participate in the completion and documentation of ongoing technical QAPI activities. - Other:
Provide assistance at other facilities and/or acute programs, transport equipment and supplies as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
The position involves moderately active work, including walking and standing for considerable periods, bending to floor level for repair and maintenance tasks, moving boxes and equipment up to 600 lbs., and lifting chemical and water solutions up to 50 lbs. at heights up to 5 feet. A two‑person assist program and equipment are available for moving heavier loads. The employee must frequently mix and lift chemicals and must follow FMCNA emergency procedures in case of emergencies.
The work environment is that of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels, with potential exposure to chemicals and infectious materials.
High school/Vocational diploma or G.E.D. Technician training or A.A. Degree in electronics preferred. At least six months of experience in a technical (industry/hospital) setting. Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills, including problem‑solving in a medical, health care environment. Valid driver’s license and/or ability to cover other facilities and transport equipment. Must attend all required technical training programs and the FMCNA Training Program for Technical Staff.
