A Diesel Technician will have a strong understanding and will demonstrate the ability to work on diesel and gas powered engines. This individual will be extremely familiar with repairing and rebuilding engines, transmissions, drive line and differentials. Our Diesel Mechanics are responsible for providing dependable truck service in a timely manner while maintaining exceptional customer service.
Diesel Engine Certified, Preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIESExamine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
Make accurate use of the multi-point inspection form on each vehicle
Performs work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards
Test-drives vehicles and tests components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
Communicates directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed, providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs
Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and schools to continuously expand your knowledge of new technology
Perform all levels of diagnosis and repair on vehicles
Performs other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSDiesel Engine CertifiedASE Certification or Graduated from an associate degree program in auto maintenance and repair demonstrate proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of engines (gas and diesel), power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, PTO's , wheel ends, electrical systems including starters and alternators, HVAC systems, steering systems, electronics to include ECM's, ECU's, sensors, engine bolt on items such as turbos, fan clutches, injectors, cooling system, brake systems including ABS, suspension systems, complete assemblies, turbo chargers and fuel systems
At least two years of experience as an automotive technician, Required Strong knowledge of all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance
Have working knowledge of shop equipment such as wheel and tire equipment, alignment system, diagnostic equipment, AC equipment and lift operation
Must be able to read, interpret, and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and provide friendly customer service
Must have basic tools
Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
