HGV Technician ​/ Commercial Vehicle Mechanic

JR Harding & Sons are seeking an experienced HGV Technician / Commercial Vehicle Mechanic to join our busy Iveco Approved Workshop in Frome.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-established business with a strong reputation in the transport, haulage and cold storage sectors. Working within our modern workshop, you will maintain and repair a varied fleet of HGVs, trailers and commercial vehicles, while supporting workshop services provided to external customers.

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, trailers and light commercial vehicles.
• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance inspections.
• Undertake MOT preparation work and ensure vehicles meet roadworthiness standards.
• Carry out diagnostics using manufacturer-approved systems and diagnostic equipment.
• Complete warranty, recall and service work in accordance with Iveco manufacturer requirements.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and defect reporting.
• Maintain accurate service records and workshop documentation.
• Support roadside breakdown recovery and urgent repairs where required.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures and Health & Safety legislation.
• Contribute to delivering an exceptional service experience for both internal fleet and external workshop customers.

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Previous experience working on HGVs, trailers or commercial vehicles.
• Diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Good understanding of vehicle electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good communication and record-keeping skills.
• Previous experience within an Iveco dealership or manufacturer-approved workshop.
• HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence.
• IRTEC accreditation.
• Experience using electronic vehicle diagnostics.
• Experience supervising apprentices or trainee technicians.
