Additional InformationThis role supports a non-nuclear power generation facility within a large regional energy provider’s generation fleet. The position is fully onsite and embedded within station operations.

This position supports a non-nuclear power generation facility within a broader Power Generation Fleet that focuses on reliable, compliant, and efficient plant operations. The role was created to provide additional technical and engineering support at the station level, with a strong emphasis on maintenance support, compliance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives tied to asset reliability and operational performance. The Engineering Technician works closely with station leadership and engineering staff, including a Station Engineer, and supports a small on-site team responsible for maintaining and improving mechanical and electrical systems critical to plant operations.
In this role, the Engineering Technician provides hands‑on technical support across multiple station programs while contributing to fleet‑wide initiatives and standards. Expectations include supporting maintenance activities, assisting with station evaluations and capital project efforts, and contributing to ongoing monitoring and improvement programs. The role requires regular interaction with maintenance personnel, engineers, and compliance‑focused teams, with a balance of independent work and collaboration in a team‑based environment.
Skills / Experience / Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of engineering theories and principles
- Understanding of advanced techniques and the modification or extension of engineering theories, practices, and related sciences
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
- Ability to think analytically and solve problems
- Ability to understand and apply ASME codes, regulations, and practices
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and station drawings, including P&IDs
- Experience working with or supporting rotating equipment such as motors, pumps, turbines, and compressors
- Knowledge of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) concepts
- Exposure to vibration monitoring or vibration analysis tools
- Familiarity with pressure systems or ASME-related requirements
- Ability to use common engineering and business software, including Microsoft Excel, to perform calculations and manipulate data
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
- Ability to process information quickly and manage multiple tasks
- Planning, organizational, and project management skills
- Mechanical or electrical background in a power plant or heavy industrial environment
- Experience as a power plant technician in gas, coal, biomass, combined‑cycle, or hydro facilities
- Industrial maintenance experience with rotating equipment
- Reliability‑focused experience, including vibration analysis, PdM, or CBM programs
- Experience using SAP or another computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Provide ongoing technical support to station operations and maintenance teams, assisting with troubleshooting and evaluation of mechanical and electrical systems
- Identify process improvement opportunities by reviewing incident investigations, performing root cause analysis, and applying industry best practices to improve reliability and performance
