• Assess all incoming incarcerated individuals for substance use concerns and provide counseling, intervention, intense treatment and rehabilitation services.
• Perform screening using the TCU Drug Screen 5 and score the instrument; complete the Screening and Assessment Result form and provide the form to case management.
• Maintain original testing instrument in treatment files.
• Assess individuals using the TAP to identify those needing substance abuse treatment services; score and add TAP results to the Screening Assessment Result form and provide to case management.
• Develop individual files to maintain original testing instruments.
• Provide substance abuse treatment on an individual basis twice monthly and two group sessions a week for two groups with approximately 15 members.
• Facilitate one aftercare services group weekly.
• Document all group and individual notes to include treatment plans and discharge summaries in incarcerated individuals files.
• Maintain contact with internal and external resources such as community based addiction providers in support of aftercare services.
• Participate in continued professional development through educational training.
• Complete monthly statistics on substance abuse treatment activities.

• In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor.
• Employees in this classification may be assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
