Purpose of the Job

To perform a variety of administrative duties to assist the Principal/Assistant Principal in managing the school; assumes the duties of the Principal or Assistant Principal in their absence and as assigned. Provides on‑site direct support to the site staff and students, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment. Assists with tasks such as overseeing student discipline and fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

Duties & Major Accountabilities
  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision of academic and non‑academic duties of school personnel.
  • Collaborate with school leadership for the efficient operation of facilities and programs.
  • Serve as an instructional leader by monitoring implementation of professional development and instructional efforts according to the school improvement plan, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement and monitor metrics for behavioral expectations and policies, including attendance trends and truancy interventions; address safety and welfare issues by holding meetings with parents, investigating incidents, documenting findings, contacting authorities, and meeting legal requirements.
  • Collect and analyze data from assessments and diagnostic instruments and develop strategies to intervene with students experiencing difficulties, focusing on academic improvement.
  • Lead staff in intensive data analysis, results interpretation, and goal planning.
  • Comply with and enforce FERPA and other federal and state laws concerning privacy, confidentiality, and reporting.
  • Model a variety of instructional strategies designed to be rigorous and mirror assessment.
  • Perform indirect supervision of employees, including assigning and directing work, interviewing, evaluating performance, disciplining, and resolving issues.
  • Mentor new teachers and assist in the orientation of new employees.
  • Assist with parent conferences and all involved personnel regarding attendance or disciplinary problems.
  • Coordinate support services to ensure student progress toward meeting graduation requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge,

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in education, management, or a similar field (required).
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid Colorado Principal's License preferred.
Experience
  • Two years of experience as a secondary teacher, secondary counselor, or equivalent (required).
  • Two years of experience working online and/or with at‑risk youth (preferred).
  • Three years of progressively responsible leadership experience working in a school (preferred).
Other Background Demonstrating Eligibility
  • Advanced knowledge of school leadership within a blended/online school.
