Construction Controller

A growing, project-based organization is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller–level professional to support a clean, on-time monthly close and reliable job costing and WIP reporting. This is a working role for someone who enjoys being in the details, owning deliverables, and partnering closely with operations.

Close & Reporting

• Support and drive the monthly close, including reconciliations and schedules
• Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and maintain clean balance sheet support
• Assist with management reporting and variance analysis

Job Costing & WIP

• Maintain job cost and WIP schedules to support accurate revenue and margin reporting
• Partner with project teams to validate percent complete, cost-to-complete, and change orders
• Investigate and resolve WIP variances
• Maintain labor rates and burden allocations used in project costing

AR, AP & Cash

• Monitor AR aging and support billing accuracy and collections follow-up
• Ensure timely, accurate AP processing with proper cutoffs
• Assist with cash tracking and clearing controls

Controls & Team Support

• Support internal controls, audits, and external reporting needs
• Provide day-to-day support to accounting and payroll processes
• Help maintain consistent processes, deadlines, and close discipline

Required

• 4–7 years of accounting experience, ideally in construction or project-based environments
• Experience supporting month-end close, job costing, and WIP
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail

Preferred

• Experience with Sage, Procore, or similar construction systems
