Job Title: Kinesiology Department Coordinator

Classification: Auto Req.

Salary Range: (Hiring range depending on qualifications, not anticipated to exceed $4,047 - $4,295 per month)

Work Schedule: Monday
- Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend hours.

The Kinesiology department within the Division of Academic Affairs is dedicated to advancing the understanding and practice of human movement across the lifespan within the context of an evolving society.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Kinesiology Department Coordinator executes and facilitates a wide range of operational processes and procedures to ensure the effective functioning of the Kinesiology department (KNES), its programs, and events. More specifically, this position provides administrative support to the KNES department chair, department faculty, and programs. The position also supports the coordination of the day-to-day operations of the Kinesiology and Health Science (KHS) joint complex and associated centers and institutes.

The Kinesiology Department Coordinator collaborates with the department chair in matters relating to course scheduling, coordinating personnel matters for instructors/graduate assistants including preparing contacts, budget activities (i.e., procurement, requisitions, accounts monitoring, and travel), maintaining databases and creating reports, coordinate graduate program inquiries, admission processes, and leading Kinesiology event planning/coordination. Support of the Public Health and Kinesiology department’s joint projects (including events), support in the maintenance for the KHS complex facilities and equipment and serve as a backup timekeeper for the KHS joint complex and to the Administrative Support Coordinator for the Public Health (PUBH) department.

Collaboration with other departments and offices within the college and campus will be required along with handling multiple work priorities simultaneously. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

High School diploma or the equivalent and two years of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work or the equivalent. Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems, and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections.

Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
