In Spring 2024, the College of Education faculty from racially and ethnically marginalized groups comprised 70% of the faculty (all ranks, including lecturers).
The Department of Educational Leadership contains master's and doctoral programs in higher education and P12 leadership, enrolling nearly 330 students in Fall 2024. This position will focus primarily on the department's Community College Leadership programs. The department uses a distributed leadership model, expecting all faculty to share some of the leadership responsibilities. The highly collaborative teams meet weekly in program meetings and monthly in department meetings.
The Department includes the Center for Research on Educational Access and Leadership (CREAL), which produces educational assessments, research papers, and conference presentations on issues of access and equity in education. Department Faculty can work closely with CREAL, its students, and faculty.
The Ed.D. in Community College Educational Leadership is designed to develop competence in the following areas: research of practice; change agency; systems thinking; understanding power, politics, and policy; critical communication and self-reflection; community partnerships; and just, equitable, and inclusive education.
Compensation
The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $5,405 to $11,994 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $7,193 to $7,334 per month.
Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work ().
Summer research grants, moving expenses, start‐up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
