The Division of Politics, Administration, and Justice at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Political Science Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. We seek intelligent, highly motivated, well‑organized part‑time lecturers to teach in our curriculum, especially in face‑to‑face classes. An area of particular need is experience teaching or qualifications to teach upper‑division and graduate courses in comparative politics or international law. This pool allows the department to draw on qualified applicants as positions become available.

Appointments are temporary, often made just prior to the start of the academic term, and applicants must be available on very short notice.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should be enrolled in a Ph.D. program in political science or public administration, or have an M.A. with substantial graduate work. Candidates should have prior university‑level teaching experience and demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with a culturally diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to those with experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment. Preference will also be given to those with relevant professional experience and who bring professional capabilities.

How to Apply

A complete online application must be submitted to receive consideration. Please provide the following materials as it relates to your application requirements:

  • Cover Letter which includes a statement of which courses you are qualified to teach
  • Copy of your unofficial transcripts conferring your highest terminal degree
  • A list of three references with contact information
  • Inclusive Excellence Statement – a statement of your unique perspective on your past and present contributions to, and future aspirations for, promoting and engaging with a diverse student population
  • Sample of course syllabi
  • Teaching evaluations (if available)

Required materials before official hire:

  • Three letters of recommendation – once selected as a finalist, your references will be notified via email to upload their confidential letter of recommendation

Applications will be reviewed as needed. Please direct all questions about the position to Dr. Pamela Fiber Ostrow, Program Coordinator at pfiber.

Regular performance evaluations of part‑time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future teaching assignments.
