Assistant Professor, Asian American Studies (with an emphasis in Asian American or Pacific Islander/Native Pacific Studies) – Tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, with up to two years of service credit for an advanced assistant rank, to begin Fall 2026.

Fullerton, CA – Full‑time – Salary: $6,221 – $13,224 per month.

• Develop and teach introductory and core courses in Asian American studies and ethnic studies.
• Create and develop courses in the candidate’s area(s) of specialization.
• Produce scholarship or creative work that meets the requirements for tenure.
• Contribute to the life and development of the department.
• Advise students.
• Serve on departmental and university‑wide committees.
• Participate in broader university and disciplinary communities.

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in ethnic studies or a related field, with an emphasis in Asian American or Pacific Islander/Native Pacific studies, by the time of appointment.
• Ability to teach a wide range of Asian American studies and ethnic studies courses.
• Demonstrated commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching.
• Strong record of scholarly or creative accomplishments appropriate to the level of appointment.
• Demonstrated commitment to department/university, professional, and community service.
• Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues.
• Ability to balance excellent teaching, scholarship/creative activity, and service.
• Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with students from intersecting marginalized social groups.

• Emphases in history; cultural studies (literature, digital/media studies, music); colonialism, empire, and war; queer of color theories; women of color feminist theories; diaspora; and/or community and social movements.
• Interdisciplinary, intersectional, and/or comparative approaches.
• Evidence of effective use of a variety of instructional methods and learning modalities.
• Evidence of successful scholarly and creative works and publications.
• Evidence of engagement with student co‑curricular activities and Asian American or Pacific Islander/Native Pacific communities.
