Position
Part‑time Lecturer in Chinese Studies at CSU Fullerton. Teach undergraduate courses in Chinese language, culture, business, art, literature, linguistics, and/or film.
Areas of Specialization- Chinese Language – Introductory to Advanced
- Chinese Culture, Chinese Civilization, and Contemporary China
- Chinese for Business
- Chinese Literature – Intermediate to Advanced
- Chinese Linguistics
- Chinese Film
- Minimum of a master’s degree in Chinese, Chinese Studies, or a related field and native‑like fluency in Chinese to teach lower‑division courses (100‑ and 200‑level).
- Ph.D. (or Ph.D. candidate) in Chinese Studies or a related field and native‑like fluency in Chinese to teach upper‑division courses (300‑level).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse student body, including first‑generation college students.
- Legal right to work in the United States; no sponsorship for work visas or permanent residence.
- Residency in the State of California at the time of hiring; this requirement cannot be waived even for online courses.
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching.
- Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
- Relevant professional experience or capabilities that enhance classroom instruction.

Appointment and SalaryAll appointments are for one semester only and are made as Lecturers under the CSU collective bargaining agreement.
Monthly compensation for a full‑time (15‑unit) base is $5,507 – $6,677, prorated per unit worked and paid in six monthly payments. For a typical three‑unit assignment, compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
