The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at CSU Fullerton is seeking part‑time lecturers to teach lower‑division (100 and 200‑level) undergraduate courses in Arabic, German, Italian, Korean, and Persian. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions become available. Typically, appointments are made just prior to the start of an academic term, requiring applicants to be available on short notice.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in the language of instruction or a related field.
- Native or native‑like fluency in the language of instruction.
- Legal right to work in the United States;
California State University, Fullerton does not sponsor work visas or permanent residence. - Residency in the State of California at the time of hiring; this requirement cannot be waived even for online courses.
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching skills.
- Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
- Relevant work experience or professional capabilities that enhance teaching effectiveness.
All appointments are as Lecturers under the CSU system Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only. The classification range is $5,507 – $6,677 per month (the full‑time monthly base salary prorated to units worked). For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
Evaluation & RetentionRegular performance evaluations are conducted in accordance with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. Evaluations determine which lecturers are retained for future teaching assignments. Syllabi, assignments, and reading material may be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
Additional RequirementsMandated Reporter: The holder of this position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.
Background Clearance: Appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background check. Employment may be rescinded if the check reveals disqualifying information.
Out‑of‑State Employment Policy: CSU is a state entity; all employees must perform CSU‑related work within California.
