The Department of Philosophy at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. Qualified faculty will be called as needed, with appointments typically made shortly before the start of an academic term.
Responsibilities- Teach scheduled courses in the following subject areas:
- Critical Thinking
- Introduction to Logic
- Asian Philosophy
- Symbolic Logic
- Contemporary Moral Issues
- 19th Century Philosophy
- Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, develop assessment materials, and maintain accurate and timely attendance records.
- Hold office hours and provide academic support to students.
- Participate in department meetings and contribute to the enrichment of the curriculum when called upon.
- Hold at least a Master’s degree in Philosophy or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body, including first‑generation college students.
- Experience teaching diverse populations and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Relevant professional experience within the field of philosophy or a related discipline.
- Cover Letter stating the courses for which you are qualified to teach.
- Copy of unofficial transcripts showing the highest terminal degree.
- Contact information for three (3) references.
- Inclusive Excellence Statement explaining your experience and approach to supporting a diverse student population.
- Sample of course syllabus.
- Teaching evaluations (if available).
- Three letters of recommendation (provided via email after selection).
All part‑time appointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU‑CFA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are one semester in length.
Monthly classification range: $5,507 – $6,677
Estimated hiring range: up to $6,221 per month (dependent on qualifications)
For three‑unit assignments, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester. Compensation is prorated to units taught and paid in six monthly installments.
Legal & Policy Statements- This position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
- Appointment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check; renewal requires a new check if it has been more than 12 months.
