DepartmentThe Department of Human Communication Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in Public Speaking, Introduction to Communication Studies, Essentials of Argumentation, and Introduction to Research in Communication Studies.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for a diverse student body, including first‑generation college students.
- Prepare lesson plans, assignments, and instructional materials consistent with university policies and departmental expectations.
- Participate in regular performance evaluations and, when selected, retain teaching assignments for future terms.
- A master’s degree in Communication Studies or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Prior university‑level teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse students.
- Relevant coursework or teaching experience in the subject areas listed above.
- Significant experience working with diverse populations and fostering inclusive learning environments.
- Record of professional writing and up‑to‑date scholarly activity.
All part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU–CAF Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
- Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month.
- Daily rates: $6,608.40 – $7,465.20 per semester for a three‑unit assignment.
- Salary is prorated to units worked and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.

Part‑time faculty are most needed in Fall and Spring semesters. Fall begins in late August and ends in mid‑December;
Spring runs from mid‑January to the end of May. Part‑time faculty may also be required for Summer Session segments.
Regular performance evaluations are conducted by the department according to CSU policies. These evaluations determine continued teaching assignments.
Legal and Policy Requirements- Mandated reporter for child abuse and neglect under California law.
- Background clearance required; offer contingent upon satisfactory background check.
- Compliance with the CSU Out‑of‑State Employment Policy.
- Applicants must disclose any recent sexual harassment determinations as required by Code 89521.
Applicants should provide a statement (≤500 words) describing their past and future contributions to inclusive excellence.
